What a Week.

TGIAF. .... I can not wait for this week to finally be though. I am whooped. I don't think i have been this tired in a long time. The kids are running me around. LOL actually they have been good. Myles and Diana are full blown chasing each other around either crawling or walking on some type of furniture. LOL they finally broke one of my crystal decors today. Yes mother i know they are not suppose to be over there. :) I just cant stop them. Gilberts Glass Entertainment stands are not child proof :O) .
So I have been on the computer all week long between freecycle and Craigslist finding donations for Our parents in MS. I know i have not updated since the Hurricane so i will touch on it a little.
They lost everything once again. The flood waters came though again. They got 9 feet of water. So everything in the storage sheds are gone. Most of all the things in the FEMA TRAILER are gone. The deep freezer is gone ( which is very devastating) all the food in there. The Refrigerator in the FEMA Trailer was nothing bigger then a fridge that you would see in a hotel room. The little ones. So you can see why the deep freezer is a loss. Also they lost the Washer.
So its been pretty stressful for them. I can not imagine.
All week long i have been getting donations and running around picking them up all over fort hood. I have actually finally gotten to know my way around. (OK so the navigational system has gotten to know its way around but hey i had to punch in the destination)
I got donations from simple things like food, clothes, kitchen stuff, towels, blankets, a beautiful comforter. NIB, shoes, cleaning supplies, paper supplies, household goods, ect, ect. Gil took our other washer and dryer to them we had an extra lawn mower he took to them and a bunch of other stuff. He set out at midnight last night for a few days.
They gave him 10 days of leave. I am not sure if he will stay the whole time or not. I guess it depends on what goes on down there.
He had said earlier that its was horrible down there. They lost everything. They are living out of their truck,. The house that they almost have finished except the plumbing and electricity is not in. I don't think the whole inside is finished but if they have the electricity and plumbing it would be a hell of a lot easier. They don't have furniture to furnish it. So i am not sure why they are staying in the truck. Hopefully they can use the blankets at least and comforters and make a bed out of it.
I had gotten a few mean posts on craigslist. They were basically calling them trailer trash and why are they still living in a fema trailer 3 months after KATRINA.
It really pissed me off. These BUTTHOLES had no idea what they were talking about. UNless you are living down there in that situation its unbelievable.
For the first 6 months after Katrina they lived in a TENT On their lot waiting for a FEMA trailer. They had no where else to go. They had insurance on their place before the storm but not flood . Why would they like almost most of the people who lost their houses there. They did not carry flood insurance they did not live in a flood zone they were far back enough from the ocean. So because of the stormsurg that's what damaged the house it was not covered under the homeowners insurance. SO they lost everything. So for 6 months they lived in a tent and the next 2 1/2 years they have been collecting what they could to get their lives back together. Gilbert's mother is a trooper. I tell you what shes a strong ol women. I would have given up and jumped off a bridge.
So over the past year they have been rebuilding a house. Most people in bay saint Louis , gulf port and New Orleans are having their houses built by volunteers so you know what that means you have to wait for them to donate their time. Which is what is taking so long.. That's why they are still in the situation . They are not trash just trying to get their life back
So now after this hurricane and the flooding they have lost most everything again. Its just frustrating.
So anyways that's what i did this week. Pile that up with Diana getting the Flu bug.
We took her to the ER Wed morning with a 105.5 temp.. Its just a virus they said. OK. GREAT. that poor little girl. I am sure glad that was all it was . Now she is coming down with a chest cold as well. Myles is getting one to so tomorrow will be a great day :(
On a positive side we had deans open house tonight. What a big boy. It was so much fun. Its amazing the things hes learning over the past few weeks. He was able to take me around the whole building on his own this time. He was so proud. I can hardly believe he will be 5 i a month. I joined the PTO . I'm excited. I hope the weekend goes smoother. I need a long nap:)
