We all had an early morning this morning. Poor Diana struggled through out the night not being able to drink anything . A fighter she is. :) It was hard for Gil and I to pick and choose who was going to be able back with her before and who would go back with her after the surgery. I went with her on the first leg. Daddy didn't think he was going to be able to handle it. I sat with her quietly not wanting to stop looking at her. Just the thought of our sweet baby being put to sleep scared us half to death. We rocked , we played, re read and of course crawled all over the bed :).
When they came to give her the medicine to put her to sleep it was a piece of cake. She was fine for the next 10 or so minutes I had with her. She was not too sleepy just getting there I think. Then finally they came and got her to take her back to the OR. Not wanting to let her out of my arms I struggled to say my short goodbye and that mommy would see her real soon.
I kissed her and had to make a quick dash out of the room trying to hold back my tears. I know it was only a simple procedure putting the tubes ,her ears, but still a scary one. I finally get down the hall way and almost to the waiting room door to meet Gil and Dean, when Dean popped out of the room. still trying to fight back tears I dashed into the bathroom not being able to say a word to dean. There I knew i was safe to let my emotions go. I could hear dean standing outside the bathroom door so I had to pull myself together again.
As I opened the bathroom door he reached up and gave me a great big hug. Its ok mommy he says. Diana will still be our sweet heart. This is what he calls her. Or Sweetie. Daddy tried to explain to him earlier that They would be "cutting her ears" so she would not feel well today. LOL I couldn't not begin to imagine what dean thought was going to happen. He said . Its ok. Her ears will still look beautiful. LOL. God Bless him. When your sad hes always there to make you laugh.
As Dean and I sat there in the waiting room i felt myself counting every second sitting in that chair. A long 10 minutes that was. The resident came into the room and said everything was ok , she was doing great and one of us could come back. We agreed that Daddy would go back. He was a little Hesitant to go, but I assured him he would be ok.
Dean and I went upstairs to wait for them and soon daddy and Diana came wheeling up in their wheel chair. Diana sitting on daddy's Lap looked into the room and gave the biggest smile and wave. She has the wave or my Grandma Mercedes. Her arm moves as fast as it can to and her little hand just flaps. I love her wave.
I could not wait to get my hands around her again. Once we got to the room I was able to scoop her up and just hold on tight. Dean came over to give her a kiss and said Diana your ears are beautiful. Again. She knows how to lighten up a moment. Gil told me that she was still weak from the surgery. Her little head just bobbled while i Tried to get her dressed.
BOY was she HUNGRY . She ate a yogurt, and some cookies and a cup of juice. Poor little girl. We got home and I tried to put her down to play. I was not prepared for her not being able to walk. She little legs were like spaghetti. She just stumbled back onto me. :(
Its nap time now and she seems to be almost back to normal. He has not been fussy at all. there is no pulling at her ears. I have to give her ear drops 3 times a day per ear. They warned us about possible drainage coming from the ears , but nothing yet.
I hope shes ok after nap. What a scary day.
